Seed to Sale – The Cannabis Journey
1

Picking seeds

The journey starts before the seed. The genetics and traits of a plant are crucial, so sourcing them from reputable breeders is critical. Breeders pick strains with desirable characteristics, such as high THC, and with consistent and predictable results.

2

Seed Sprouting

A cultivator takes the seeds and starts the plant’s cycle. Healthy seeds start growing roots in 3 to 10 days.

3

Growth

Cannabis plants develop their first leaves in about two to three weeks, with a full growth phase lasting 3 to 16 weeks.

4

Budding

Once the plant is fully grown, buds start forming in about 3 to 4 weeks.

5

Harvest

Timing is everything. Harvesting a plant too early or too late will impact the taste, smell, and potency. Buds are picked at their best time, usually when they look and feel just right – this is a learned skill for the growers.

6

Trimming

Leaves are removed from buds, making them neat and tidy.

7

Drying and Curing

Drying enhances the flavor profile of the buds. Just like other steps, timing is everything – not enough time, and it will only be dry on the outside, too much time and it could develop mold. Buds are dried for 2 to 7 days, then are kept in airtight jars so that the moisture and flavor is preserved.

8

Quality Check

Cannabis is checked for safety and strength, making sure it’s good to go.

9

Packaging

Once the cannabis is tested for quality and safety, it’s time for packaging. The journey is almost complete, and products are shipped to retail stores.

10

Ready for Sale

After a months-long journey, cannabis products are finally ready to be sold to people like you! From start to finish it is a process that takes 8 months from picking a seed to a product that you can take home.
